I’m a big fan of Cynthia Eden and unfortunately Eternal Hunter didn’t live up to my expectations. I enjoyed the mystery and the fact that we got to hear the killers thoughts. I liked Erin and her strength and Jude made a great alpha for this story. The premise was great and the world created interesting. The reason for the three stars and not higher is because I really disliked the ending. The bad guy to me didn’t fit at all and it would have been better if the part where he is introduced never happened. I’m not sure if it was supposed to be surprising or shocking perhaps, but to me it came across as insincere and ridiculous. Also the formatting on this wasn’t great. In my copy there were no paragraph breaks when the POV changed or the scene changed. So one line we’re in Jude’s head, the one directly under it we’re in the killers and I’ll be stuck thinking why is Jude thinking like this, until I eventually realised we’ve switched. This was the same with the scenes. We’d be at the police station and then suddenly we’re at Night Watch in the next line. It was confusing and took me away from the story every time. I sort of got used to it by the end, but I shouldn’t have to do that. There should have been a break to signal a change. So overall it was just okay for me. This had action, suspense, mystery and some sexy scenes, however it just fell a little flat for me.

Eternal Hunter Night Watch Cynthia Eden 9780758234285 Books Reviews
It's stating the obvious, but I read and review a lot of books, commenting on strength of plot, technical aspects of writing, character development, world building, etc. I have to admit, I enjoy detailing why I like or dislike something. Occasionally, though, I come across a book that hits all or most of my happy spots, not because the plot is so spectacular, or the writing is so technically impressive, or the characters stand out that brightly, but for some nebulous, purely emotional reason that doesn't translate as well to an objective review. Eternal Hunter is one of those books.
Erin is new to Baton Rouge, working as a tenacious Assistant District Attorney and working AT hiding herself - both her location from a violent, murderous stalker intent on Erin as his mate and her Other nature from...well...everyone else. Jude Donovan, bounty hunter and supreme alpha male shapeshifter has a much different agenda on those points. From the moment he senses and scents Erin, he refuses to allow her to hide anything from him, and he sure as hell refuses to let any sick psycho shifter come anywhere near her. Both have secrets they guard, both have wounds that still haunt them. Both will learn that only together can they stop a creature bent on death and destruction.
Eternal Hunter is a quickly paced, sensual, and dangerous romp and I really, really enjoyed it. There's something about Cynthia Eden's style that appeals to me. I enjoy the world she's created, one that exists in the same universe as that of her Midnight Trilogy, and I thought the chemistry between Erin and Jude was top notch. I really appreciated Erin's strength, as that's a personal preference of mine, and I loved Jude's uber-alpha personality tempered with some emotional insecurity that made him even more appealing as that vulnerability humanized him. Their characters and relationship really worked for me.
I'm not going to be overly critical of the story elements, I'm simply going to say that the plot was perhaps not the most original I've ever read, the sexual and burgeoning emotional relationship between Erin and Jude was given much more room than the threat of the stalker, and the climax had some cliched elements. There were also a couple of plot threads that struck me as odd. None of that severely impacted my pleasure in the read, though, because I found it to be very satisfying on an emotional level overall. Sometimes, for whatever reason, a book just hits the right buttons for a person. Eternal Hunter hit the right buttons for me and gets a 4.5 Stars rating.
Another great read by Cynthia Eden. I have to say I really enjoy her mystery and suspense novels. This one was the same. Fast paced and action packed. Hard to put down.
These mystery and suspense novels have an added bonus that includes the Paranormal world that I also enjoy reading.
I loved the 2 main characters, Jude and Erin. Both have very strong personalities, but at the same time have a vulnerability that makes them more sensitive and passionate. Both have secrets that they want to keep in fear of reprisals, and fear of trusting someone. Their relationship is intense as their situation is also intense, but which brings them closer to trust each other enough to fight.
I also wanted to quickly say that besides the main characters, I also loved some of the supporting characters, Zane, Dee and Antonio. Hope to see future books with them staring as the main characters.
I don't want to get into repeating the synopsis or giving spoilers, but if you have read Cynthia Eden's other books, I highly recommend this series too. She's a talented author who mixes paranormal romance with lots of mystery and suspense.
District attorney, Erin Jerome, has a stalker leaving her dead corpses as tokens of affection. After her admirer breaks into her house and writes a bloody message on the wall, Erin decides to hire bounty hunter, Jude Donovan, as protection. Jude knows that Erin is a shifter like him, even though she tries everything in her power to hide it. Being a bit of an opportunist, Jude takes the constant close contact as bodyguard to find out what exactly Erin is and to explore his attraction to her.
This was an okay read. Jude's constant saving of Erin got on my nerves, but otherwise the story was alright. I enjoyed the creepy tones of the stalker constantly watching Erin and the revelation of who that stalker is. However, I doubt I'll be picking up any other novels by Eden.
