This is this author's newest twisted masterpiece and once again she's reminded me of why she's one of my favorites and why I consider her the queen of messing with the mind. I have never in all my reading come across a book quite like this one and I immediately fell in love with this deliciously dark world filled with complex characters that are all a little broken inside. It is my opinion that they are made all the more beautiful and intriguing because of this. This author does an amazing job of turning everything on its side and forcing you to look at the world from a completely different and unexpected perspective and this is one of my favorite things about her. The fact that we can read a story like this and be able to relate to characters that are otherwise completely unrelatable is a perfect example of why this author is incredibly talented and an automatic one-click for me. I highly recommend reading this compelling story to anyone who enjoys their reading experiences a bit dark and twisted and I look forward to much more from this amazing author in the future! First off this author can write. There is talent here. The book however just wasn't for me. First off the Hero is a business man (no idea what he does but apparently he is great at it) who doesn't even know his assistant of six years. So unbelievably unrealistic especially since she is some busty ian beauty. Secondly the Heroine can't even have a drink with a man without having spontaneous fantasies of her former pimp (yes you read that correctly) and rub against herself and the the closest warm body. Yuck yuck yuck. And the Hero who like I said didn't even know her name or seem to recognize her face until she slammed her notice on his desk is suddenly violently obsessed with her. Ugh I could barely make it 50 pages. I'm out.
Gray is a special character. So, so special. He has hyper focus and his focus is set on Violet. She will be his and his methods to accomplish this are... less than socially acceptable.
I went into this book expecting to find a quirky read, and it was that but so much more. Kristi has a way of turning themes that are hard to accept into something that you not only accept but wish you find yourself wishing you could find your own creepy stalker. I lost myself in Gray and Violet. Gray's unconditional love and Violet's ability to overcome obstacles in her life, and both of them trusting wholly in each other. I love their love.

3.5 stars!!!
“Some things are better left locked up in the past. Some monsters belong there.”
K Webster does dark, her dark freaks me out but in the best possible way and knowing how deliciously sick and twisted she is I was surprised that this wasn’t as dark as I had anticipated. I was anticipating a creep fest, something that would make me shudder for all the wrong reasons and while there were definitely some of those moments they were not as plentiful as I thought. None the less, this was a definite page turner, enticingly edgy with just a little freak.
Grayson Maxwell, ex-sniper now business mogul…muscles and brains a deadly combination. However, Grayson was one-track minded, work, work, work, work. So focused he didn’t even know what his assistant of six years looked like until she handed in her notice. Grayson definitely has obsessive tendencies whether it be work or women and nothing and I mean nothing can detract him from what has caught his attention. It is all or nothing with him.
“She’s furious and I’m…curious.”
Violet was a woman on the run, hiding from her past, desperate to stay unseen, so her unusual relationship with her non-responsive boss was perfect…until it wasn’t. Undervalued and with many men in the workplace thinking it is their right to get “handsy” she has had enough and finds another job. It is at this juncture when her boss finally notices her.
“I see you, Violet,” he murmurs against my mouth, his teeth nipping at my bottom lip. “I see you.”
Despite the dark undertones and the many triggers for some I did find myself amused too and found myself chuckling at the most inopportune moments. I mean, it is a bit, pot kettle, when said stalker is condemning other stalkers while lying under the bed of the person you are stalking. Yes, at times the story was a little far-fetched but it is fiction and I just lapped up the story for what it was.
“There’s only room for one freak in her world. And I take up a lot of space.”
Grayson should have been a man I hated and yet, I just couldn’t. So much from his past has maketh the man he is today and his life has been far from plain sailing despite his success. Grayson was a man that did not understand half measures, it was literally all and over the top all or nothing. Grayson couldn’t differentiate between normal and obsessive, to him it was natural and all done with the best of intentions, hence the reason I could not hate him. He is possessive, intense, protective, totally over the top and yet has a heart of gold, he is just incredibly misunderstood. Grayson could definitely do with some therapy but I adored him for what he was.
Having Radiohead’s “Creep” on a constant loop in my head definitely added to the scene setting and with all the drama that these two go through the pages just turned until the end. The epilogue, total weirded me out, but coming from K Webster…I expected nothing less.
