I really liked Robert's story. We are treated to the gentler side of this knight that has been twined in Faerie Magic since Book 1. As he said in the last book "the sooner you accept it the sooner you can move on."
I liked his Isabella ( yes another fiery redhead) Their attraction is well built and if not as good as Conner and Cate-it is better than Jesse and Sarah----plus--we even get to see a bit more of Leah's personality-along with the depths of her Faerie Gift.
Getting to know the McAllister/McKiernan's through the last 5 books (especially Roselyn) I kinda missed any 13th century interaction with them in this book. I eagerly await Colin and Drew's stories-I do hope she still has plans to see to their happiness. It seems like there is soooo much more in store for us with these Highlanders and I hate leaving them hanging out there.............
(spoiler***)I look forward to more development of Jamie MacQuarrie as well as the other children in the 21st century

A really good story, well written with very lovable characters. Robert gives a whole new meaning to "honorable." Story comes together inicely and the ending is great.
This one has strong lead characters and an intriguing story line. I've now read all of Ms. Mayhue's and in my opinion this one ranks right up there with the first. This one was a fast read because she hooked me from the beginning. I hope she keeps writing these HIghlander series!
The way these books are written, they can be read one at a time or all in a row. The characters are individual but yet they can be connected to the characters in one of the previous books. Every one I read I can't wait to get the next one to read what happens to the next pair of highlanders.
this was the first book that i read by Mellisa Mayhue, i loved that its set in Scotland in 1272 and that it crosses over to our modern day time. Robert MacQuarrie is strong, brave, loyal, caring and just the kind of man most women want to meet and then there is Isabella who is strong, brave, loyal, loving and just the right woman who deserves a man like Robert.
i have since purchased most of the books in this series because they are that good!
Robert McQarrie has been saved from certain death when he is transported to the future by Faerie magic at the moment he is mortally wounded in medieval Scottland. Years later he volunteers to return to his homeland to help a friend escape the darker side of the Faery magic. Robert gladly accepts the mission knowing that his journey into the past is fate's way of helping him fulfill a promise to a dying friend. What Robert doesn't know is that Fate is propelling him into the arms of his soulemate and into an unkown where his life may be the price of fulfilling that vow. Mayhue again propels us into the world of Medeival Scotland where romance and danger go hand in hand. Robert and Isa are a perfect match and their joining is literally earth scorching. The only disappointment that I found is that Isa's faery magic seems to fail her when it is needed most and we never get to experience the full power of her gift. Also we never understand why it is never used for a purpose other than to alienate her from her family.
I enjoyed how the author developed these characters. The plot unfolded easily, and there was not a lot of unbelievable and distracting personal drama that many authors resort to in order to extend the story. Leah's willingness to step in and help when she was needed to allow a child to have a normal life was expected, but also appreciated. Robert being "out of time" did have repercussions, and that element was also in keeping with the Fairies typical rules for changing history. Overall I thought the story was very well written and I look forward to future books with these characters.
I can't say it enough, Mallisa's books are fantastic. Even though they are about there own seperate charecters, they are all tied in together so it is like a whole bunch of small stores in one HUGE one. I love books like that. I also love books that are about the old Gods & the magic that existed back then & the fairy world & the time travel, plays into my own little day dreams of wishing sometimes that I would have my own fairy wisk me off to my own day & time. Because there are days I think I was born in the wrong day & time. Anyway, I love her books & as soon as a new one come out I have it. In fact the one that fallows this one is "A Highlander rebone" Don't miss it. It's great too.
Thanks Samm
